Why Does My Toilet Continue to Run Until I Jiggle the Handle?

Oftentimes, the handle gets stuck. This causes the flapper to remain open. When the flapper is open, water will continue to flow into the bowl. Try tightening, oiling, or replacing the handle.

My tub is clogged. I have tried a plunger and chemical drain cleaners. What else can I do to unclog the drain?

For stubborn clogs, try using a snake. Feed the snake down the drain carefully to dislodge the clog and remove the blockage.

The water isn’t draining out of my dishwasher. Can I do anything to resolve the problem before calling a plumber?

Sometimes it is possible to fix the problem yourself, but many times you need professional help, and we’re only a phone call away 24-7-365 at (208)941-8718. We can help remove the clog, clean out the strainer basket, and for the air hose (which vents the dishwasher) we can remove any food buildup or debris. These are the easy steps, then we go further to resolve the plumbing issue to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

My garbage disposal stopped working. What do I do?

Turn the disposal off, and disconnect from power. Check to see if anything is lodged in the disposal. Sometimes, utensils or other small objects fall in. If there is no blockage, plug it back in and reset. Also, make sure to check your breaker. If this doesn’t fix it, it’s time to call a plumber.

What causes a faucet to leak?

The most common cause of faucet leaks is a corroded gasket, o-ring, or valve. This is often an easy fix. Most of the time, those parts can simply be replaced without replacing the whole faucet.

My water bill keeps going up, but I do not think we have a leak. What’s going on?

You may have a silent or hidden leak. This happens often in toilets. Try putting food coloring in the tank of your toilet. Do not use the toilet for 1 hour. After an hour, if there is color in the bowl, you have a leak.

What are the benefits of a tankless hot water heater?

Tankless hot water heaters are great because they never run out of hot water. A storage tank hot water has a limited capacity (whatever the size of the tank), while a tankless can heat unlimited amounts as it passes through the system. Additionally, tankless hot water heaters save you money, since you are only heating the water you use, not the amount that is sitting in the tank.

Why do my pipes rattle and make noise?

This can be caused by unsecured pipes. When pipes are not properly supported, they often move and bump against floor joists as water flows through them.

How do I avoid frozen pipes?

Insulating your pipes is the best way to prevent them from freezing. If you cannot access your pipes to insulate them, leave the water on a slow drip on very cold nights, to keep water flowing and prevent freezing.

What uses the most water in my home?

While it may seem that showers or baths use large amounts of water, the toilet typically uses the most water in the home. This is because used most frequently. Keep your water bill low by ensuring that all toilets are running properly, with no leaks.
