Express Plumbing Heating & Air Blog

Many of us think of plumbers when our sinks or toilets become clogged. Or when we have frozen water pipes in the winter. The work of a plumber is often more complex and challenging than fixing these problems. In new construction, plumbers work with contractors to make a blueprint of the plumbing system so it meets all city building codes. They also follow those blueprints and install pipes that require bending and cutting pipes to fit in the location. Testing with pressure gauges is another tool they use to ensure the proper functioning of the systems.

In order to become a certified plumber, you do need to get the classroom training required in the state you reside in. Then your career in plumbing is started with a job apprenticeship. This is when you earn money while you learn. After you complete all your apprenticeship hours you may then wish to continue to become a journeyman. You do need to take an exam to get your license. If you would like to go the extra mile, a master plumber is a final step. This is obtained by putting in the required hours as a journeyman and getting some additional education.
